Right after your visit
Stay upright for 4 hours. No naps.
No exercise for at least 24 hours. 48 hours is best for longevity.
No vigorous massage or rubbing of your face for 24 hours
Avoid hot tubs, hot showers, saunas and tanning beds for 24 hours
No other treatments to your face for 14 days
We recommend taking PTIOX home to compliment your results.
Days 1 to 5
Headaches can happen. Tylenol (acetaminophen) is fine for pain relief.
The muscles relax gradually. Results usually begin around day 3 to 5.
At 2 weeks
This is when the full effect shows. Depending on how much we used, your face may feel very still or a little tight at this point. That’s normal, and movement gradually comes back over the next few weeks. For most people, the sweet spot is about a month after treatment.
If something looks uneven or you’re not seeing what we talked about, call or text us. Please hold off judging your result until the full 14 days have passed.
Touch ups
Touch ups are normal and can only be done between 14 and 21 days after your treatment. After 21 days, wait until your due for your next treatment.
Call or text us if
Your eyelid or brow feels droopy or heavy
A headache doesn’t settle
Things look uneven
How long it lasts
Movement starts to come back around 6 to 8 weeks, then gradually returns more and more until you’re back to baseline. Treatments last about 3 to 4 months on average. Booking before you’re fully back to baseline keeps results smoother.

Right after your visit
Bruising and swelling are expected and settle over about 7 days
Ice the area gently and apply arnica gel to encourage faster healing
Drinking pineapple juice can help too
Skip intense exercise, heat and alcohol for 24 to 48 hours
No dental work for 2 weeks before and after treatment, to prevent infection and filler migration
No facials, lasers, heat energy or microneedling for 2 weeks
We recommend taking H.A. Intensifier home to use during healing. Use it as directed.
Days 1 to 7
Swelling, tenderness and small bruises are common
Some firmness or small lumps are normal while the filler settles
Weeks 2 to 4
Filler takes 3 to 4 weeks to settle and blend into your tissue. Small lumps and bumps will usually resolve within that time. Please hold off judging your result until the full 4 weeks have passed.
If something still doesn't feel right at 4 weeks, call or text us.
Touch ups
We review at about 4 weeks, once swelling has settled. If we need to adjust anything, that's the time.
Call or text us right away if
You have severe pain that is more than you'd expect from the treatment
Your skin looks white, blotchy or dusky
Bruising spreads beyond the treated area
You've had filler before and this healing feels different or abnormal for you
You notice any signs of infection:
Redness, warmth or swelling that is getting worse after the first few days
Pain that is increasing instead of settling
Pus, drainage or pimple-like bumps
Fever, chills or feeling unwell
You have a hard, painful or red lump that doesn't settle
You develop hives, a rash or itching after treatment
Your lips tingle or blister (this can be a cold sore flare-up)
These are uncommon, and the sooner we hear about them the easier they are to manage. If you have any vision changes, go to the emergency room and call us.
How long it lasts
This is different for everyone. It depends on your metabolism, the area and the product. When we're building toward a result, you may need a couple of sessions to get where you want to be.
Filler gradually breaks down over time. We usually wait until it has faded by about 40% before adding more to that area. Your filler could last you many years.

Right after your visit
You must massage the treated area for 5 days, 5 minutes at a time, 5 times per day. This gives you the best result and helps prevent lumps or bumps.
Ice the area gently and apply arnica to encourage faster healing
Skip intense exercise, heat and alcohol for 24 to 48 hours
No dental work for 2 weeks before and after treatment
No facials, lasers, heat energy or microneedling for 2 weeks
We recommend taking Retinol home to use after healing to stimulate more collagen. Use it as directed.
Days 1 to 7
Tenderness and bruising are expected and usually settle in 5 to 7 days
Arnica tablets and eating pineapple may help speed up your recovery
The area may look fuller at first, then settle back within a few days
Months 1 to 6
These treatments stimulate your own collagen and elastin, so results build slowly. Around the 3 month mark, you'll start to notice a subtle difference. Full results take about 6 months to show. Please give it the full 6 months before judging your result.
Your treatment plan
Everyone starts differently. To begin, most people need about one vial for each decade of life. For example, a 40 year old would start with about 4 vials.
Call or text us right away if
You feel lumps or bumps while massaging
You have severe pain that is more than you'd expect from the treatment
Your skin looks white, blotchy or dusky
Bruising spreads beyond the treated area
You've had this treatment before and this healing feels different or abnormal for you
You notice any signs of infection:
Redness, warmth or swelling that is getting worse after the first few days
Pain that is increasing instead of settling
Pus, drainage or pimple-like bumps
Fever, chills or feeling unwell
You develop hives, a rash or itching after treatment
These are rare, and the sooner we hear about them the easier they are to manage. If you have any vision changes, go to the emergency room and call us.
How long it lasts
Results last about 2 years. We recommend maintaining with about one vial per year, so you don't have to repeat the initial series. We lose collagen at about 1% per year starting in our early 20s, so yearly maintenance keeps you ahead of it. Some people need 1 to 2 vials per year, depending on age and skin.

Right after your visit
Bruising, swelling and tenderness are expected
Ice gently for the first 48 hours, 15 to 20 minutes at a time
Keep the treated sites clean and dry for 24 hours
No pools, baths or hot tubs for 48 hours
No intense exercise or heat for 1 week
Tylenol (acetaminophen) is fine for discomfort. Avoid ibuprofen and aspirin unless we've told you otherwise.
We recommend taking Halederma home to use during healing. Use it as directed.
Days 1 to 14
Bruising can be more noticeable than with other treatments. It may spread and takes 1 to 2 weeks to fade.
Tightness, firmness and small lumps are normal while you heal
A little spotting from the needle sites in the first day or so is normal
Your treatment series
Subcision works best as a series. We start with a minimum of 3 sessions, and some people need up to 6. We keep each session gentle on purpose, because treating too aggressively can cause the skin to tether again. Spacing the sessions out gives better, longer lasting results. It also works best when combined with other treatments, like microneedling, Sylfirm, chemical peels and/or Sculptra.
Subcision treats boxcar and rolling scars. It doesn't treat ice pick scars.
Months 1 to 3
Results build gradually as your skin remodels, so please give it time. Most people start to notice a difference at around 3 months.
Call or text us if
You have pain that is getting worse instead of settling
Swelling is increasing, or an area becomes very tight, hard or tense
You notice redness, warmth, pus or drainage
You have a fever or chills
How long it lasts
Once you've finished your series, you don't need ongoing treatments. If new scarring develops years later, you may need it again, but otherwise we leave it.

Right after your visit
Stinging, redness and mild swelling are normal
A blister may form within the first day. It can be clear or look a little bloody.
Don’t pop or pick at the blister or scab
Wash gently with a mild cleanser and pat dry
Keep the area clean and dry. Cover it with a bandage if we’ve told you to.
Avoid pools, hot tubs and saunas until it has healed
Avoid direct sun on the area
Days 1 to 7
Tenderness and redness settle over the first few days
The blister dries into a scab
The scab can look dark or crusty. This is normal.
Weeks 1 to 3
The scab falls off on its own in about 1 to 3 weeks. Let it come off naturally.
New pink skin underneath is normal
Once healed, use SPF on the area every day
The area may look lighter or darker for a while. Sun protection helps it even out, and it can take a few months.
Touch ups
Some lesions need a second treatment. We check the area at about 4 weeks, and if anything is left, we can treat it again.
-
Right after your visit
Facials: pinkness for a few hours is normal
Peels: redness and tightness, like a mild windburn, are normal
Use a gentle cleanser and a simple moisturizer
Wear SPF every day, and avoid direct sun and tanning for 1 week
Skip retinoids, acids and exfoliants as we've directed. This is usually 2 days after a facial and 5 to 7 days after a peel.
Avoid saunas, pools and heavy sweating for 24 to 48 hours
No makeup for 24 hours after a peel
Don't pick, scratch or peel your skin
Days 1 to 3
Tightness, dryness and mild redness are normal after a peel
Your skin may feel rough or look a bit darker before it starts to flake
After a facial, your skin should look calm and glowy. A few small breakouts can show up as your skin clears out, and they settle on their own.
Days 3 to 7 (peels)
Not every peel causes peeling, and that's normal. Some peels leave you with only tightness, dryness or light flaking.
If you do peel, it can be light or in small sheets, depending on the strength of your peel
Let it come off on its own. Pulling at it can leave marks.
Keep moisturizing
